For over 30 years Clark Wire has provided quality wire products to a variety of industries.
Clark began manufacturing aluminum braid wire in 1973. In 1978 fine copper wire was added to the product line. Today, Clark Wire manufactures aluminum, copper clad aluminum, copper and tin coated copper fine wire.
The various constructions of wire include single end and multiple wires on braider bobbins and stranded and bunched wire.
Clark is now focusing more on copper clad aluminum. As the price of copper has sky rocketed in the recent past manufacturers are seeking alternative materials. Copper clad aluminum is Clark's main focus of attention at this time. This material is composed of an aluminum center with a copper cladding around it. The composition is 85-90% aluminum and 10-15% copper. This works very well for both electrical and electronic applications. Since electronic signals travel the skin or surface of the wire the same conductivity can be realized on a copper clad aluminum wire as a copper wire of the same gauge. The same is true for shield or braid wire. To obtain the same electrical conductivity with copper clad aluminum the gauge has to be increased by two sizes. But, considering the difference in the number of feet in a pound of copper clad aluminum over copper the savings is very significant.
